6-year-old child is kiIled after being bitten by a rattlesnake while on a family bike trip with his father and sister – rest in peace

A neighborhood in Security-Widefield, Colorado is in mourning after a rattlesnake bite kiIIed a 6-year-old child last Tuesday.

According to reports, Simon Curratt was biking with his dad and brother at Bluestem Prairie Open Space when they stopped for a water break.

Unfortunately, Simon was bitten by a rattlesnake after he got off his bike. Fire Safety Battalion Chief Derek Chambers said Simon ran ahead of his father and sister to see the mile marker.

Simon’s father is believed to have acted immediately after hearing his child scream “rattlesnake”.

The terrified father dragged his child to the nearest neighborhood, where people quickly heard his cries for help and called an ambulance. According to one of Simon’s neighbors, the first people arrived immediately.

Battalion Chief Chambers said he arrived on the scene five minutes after the 911 call – Simon was not yet in cardiac arrest at the time.

The 6-year-old was airlifted to a nearby hospital and then to Aurora Children’s Hospital for further specialized care.

Simon, on the other hand, died in hospital on July 9 after only a few days.

Michelle Johnson is a leader at Calvary Worship Center in Colorado Springs, where the boy’s family attends.

They received a message that Simon had been bitten by a snake, he said. Prayers were offered and the pastors responded by visiting the hospital, meeting with the family and praying for Simon in the days ahead. They hoped he would survive, but he didn’t.
