For nearly the last ten years, 50-year-old Jeff Reitz has been spending every day at California’s Disneyland theme park.
He went so many times in a row, 2,995 times to be exact, that he has since earned his way to the top spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most consecutive visits to the Happiest Place on Earth.
In addition to getting his name in the record book, Reitz has earned himself honorary citizenship at Disneyland after he spent an estimated $100,000 on his trips to the popular theme park for both adults and children.
Reitz spent every single day at Disneyland California for eight years and more than three months to earn his way into the Guinness Book of Records.
His victory was announced on Tuesday by the Guinness World Records officials, who were happy to share the good news for Reitz.
As an Air Force veteran, Reitz wanted to do something useful with his time out of the military.
He ended up deciding to go for the world record for the most consecutive visits to the popular theme park located outside of Los Angeles in Anaheim.
He visited the theme park Disneyland every single day beginning in 2012 until Disney shut down their original theme park in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It started as a joke between friends when Disneyland announced they were giving an ‘Extra Disney Day’ when they announced the Leap Day 24-hour event in 2012,” Reitz told officials at the Guinness World Record.
Reitz would share his Disney trips to social media and began to take his consecutive visitor mission more seriously after he got a lot of attention for visiting the park sixty days in a row.
Going to Disneyland every day was meant to be a joyful challenge for the Air Force veteran. He wanted to spend his free time doing something that made him happy, and nothing made him happier than visiting Disneyland in Anaheim.
Soon enough, Reitz became a popular attraction himself. He befriended many cast members at the theme park and would often get requests for autographs from other guests who recognized him as the man who had visited Disneyland thousands of times in a row.
Reitz would try to take a photo of something new during every visit to Disneyland to keep his Instagram followers engaged and happy. The new content made him a sensation on social media as more and more people began to follow him for a daily dose of joy.
“I would usually take a walk around the park,” Reitz said. “I enjoy photography, so I was always watching for images to capture that I could post to share.”
Reitz would do something different every day he visited the park to keep things fresh and exciting for himself and his followers on Instagram.
“Some days, I would go to lots of attractions, and other times I might focus my attention on a single section of the park.”
